  • 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM
  • The Riverside

Idaho Writers Guild Literary Lunch

Presenter: Louise Berlin

Topic: What the Heck Are You Writing? Case Studies on Genre Straddling, Blending, and Hopping

  • 1.     The basics: fiction genres and why they’re important in the real world
  • 2.     Genre straddling, blending and hopping: yes, it’s possible, but…
  • 3.     Case study: A.B. Michaels
  • 4.     Case studies: Joanne Pence and Donna Cook/Jordyn White
  • 5.     Three rules to follow while you’re breaking the rules

An escapee from California, IWG member Louise Berlin earned masters’ degrees in history (UCLA) and broadcasting (San Francisco State University) and worked in the public relations/ marketing fields for umpteen years before turning to fiction.

As A.B. Michaels she has written five historical novels in the series “The Golden City,” and is finishing up The Jade Hunters for her contemporary romantic suspense series, “Sinner’s Grove.” She enjoys puppies and long walks on the beach, and—wait, wrong bio! She’s actually been married for more than thirty years to a wonderful man who helps tremendously with her book marketing and keeps her Squirrel! tendencies under reasonable control.

Join us at the Riverside from 11:30 to 1 pm, Tuesday, February 19.
