The Idaho Writers Guild is following the latest CDC (Center for Disease Control) guidelines postponing events with more than 10 attendees to contain the spread of COVID-19. Our hearts go out to our community and to all those affected.
Accordingly, the Idaho Writers Guild has cancelled or postposted all in-person events from March 17, 2020, until further notice, including the Idaho Writers Conference scheduled for April 24-25, 2020. The cancellation includes pitch appointments and manuscript evaluations.
The 2020 Idaho Writers Contest will remain in place. In April, the winners will be notified with certificates and prizes delivered by mail.
The next Idaho Writers Conference will take place May 21-22, 2021, at the Boise Centre.
We will continue to monitor directives from federal and state public-health authorities and if future adjustments need to be made, we’ll communicate those changes via email, through social media, and on our website.

What We're About
The Idaho Writers Guild offers professional networking and educational opportunities as diverse as the writers who join it. In addition to serving as a networking resource for writers wishing to become actively involved in the writing community, the IWG plans and develops programs to aid writers. Our membership reflects all genres and media.
We’re a community-based literary arts organization promoting education in the community by hosting public programs and projects, including author readings, workshops on a broad spectrum of topics, writing contests, and conferences of interest to writers and readers of all genres.
Writers of all genres are eligible for membership. Members receive discounts to IWG workshops and events, and an online newsletter. Members are sometimes sent requests that IWG occasionally receives for paid work and speaking engagements.
A Little History
The Idaho Writers Guild—not to be confused with the Idaho Writers League—began in the winter of 2007, when a small group met to discuss creating an organization. The intention was to serve as a networking resource and a collective voice for writers wishing to become actively involved in the writing community. In 2009, a five-member Governing Committee consisted of Doug Copsey (Chair), Elaine Ambrose, Joanne Pence, Kenneth Rodgers, and Diane Ronayne.
In 2020, the Idaho Writers Guild is an independent and robust 501(c)3 organization with over 200 members, offering an annual conference, workshops, and programs that support the writing community.
